Where students go

Top regions for international students in the UK.

Imperial, UCL, King's, LSE and more

The UK's densest concentration of global employers. Graduate Route holders find tech, finance, and consulting roles fastest here. Maintenance funds are higher for London study.

Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Manchester

Oxford and Cambridge lead globally. Edinburgh is the top Russell Group choice in Scotland. Manchester anchors a fast-growing Northern tech and biomedical cluster.

Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews

Four-year integrated master's degrees at Scottish universities can extend your study period and Graduate Route planning window. Distinct Scottish Higher entry requirements apply.

Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham, Nottingham

Lower cost of living than London with strong Russell Group and post-1992 institutions. Growing digital and engineering employer bases make Skilled Worker transitions practical.

Honest answers

UK study visa questions for 2026 applicants.

  • Applications submitted on or before 31 December 2026 receive the full 2-year Graduate Route (3 years for doctoral graduates). Applications submitted on or after 1 January 2027 receive 18 months. The key date is your Graduate Route application date, not your course start. We plan course end-dates around this cutoff.

  • No. Once you hold a UK Student visa and complete your degree, the Graduate Route has no separate language test. You already satisfied the English requirement under the Student visa. The IELTS for UKVI requirement sits at the Student visa stage only.

  • Yes. You can switch from the Graduate Route to a Skilled Worker visa inside the UK if you find a licensed sponsor at the qualifying salary threshold. Graduate Route time does not count toward the 5-year ILR qualifying period, so switching early is generally better. We coach the switch from month one.

  • Standard processing from outside the UK is typically around 3 weeks, based on current UKVI guidance. We position biometrics and any required TB test ahead of filing to avoid mid-process delays.
